Jed Myers was born in Philadelphia in 1952 to parents of Eastern European Jewish heritage. He studied Creative Writing with an emphasis in poetry at Tufts University, graduating in 1974, and went on, after medical training, to pursue a career in psychiatry. He settled in Seattle, where he and his wife raised three children. He kept writing poems, but did not seek publication until after the events of September 11th, 2001. Since that time, his work has been widely published. He founded an open-mic cabaret series, NorthEndForum, in 2006, which has evolved into the current music-and-poetry open-mic series  Easy Speak Seattle.

Jed maintained a solo therapy practice and taught at the University of Washington until 2024.

His sixth chapbook, Anyone’s Dust, won the 2024 Sundress Publications Chapbook Editor’s Choice Award and is out as of summer 2025.

His third full-length poetry collection, Learning to Hold, won the Wandering Aengus Press Editors’ Award and was published in March 2024.
